How much water required daily ?

Assalam O Alaikum,

A lot of people ask about the minimum / maximum quantity of water that should be taken daily; a usual advice from various websites & others is 8 glasses per day.

More important is to check your kidney function, the urine output per 24 hours, volume of urine that you pass in a single session, color of urine, etc. These are the true indicators of how far your body is hydrated or dehydrated; & which foods can bring down more urine & others that may induce water retention, UTI, etc.

It is a simple test that may be performed once in a couple of months. Bring a plastic container of at least 700 ml capacity; having marks of volume for each 50 to 100 ml ~ up to at least 700 ml. Normal excretion of 24 hours urine should be 1.25 liters, & volume per passage varies in accordance to

Assalam O Alaikum,

Body weight / 20…….it means that a person weighing 120 kg should drink at least 6 liters of water daily, I feel that practically; it is not possible.
A friend said that 2 liters of daily urine output is essential. 2 liters of urine ~ on the average means 300 ml of single urine …. 7 times a day, it is rarely seen.
2 liters of urine needs at least 3 liters of water intake, 12 to 15 glasses of water to be taken daily, it seems difficult.

1.25 liters of daily urine is a good sign to know that your body is not dehydrated, and some people may have these figures as 1.5 liters of 24 hours collective urine.
